#TCoYT update – Have you reported your event?

With just one week remaining in the annual TCoYT campaign for 2021, we thought we would share a quick update on how this year’s campaign is coming along. We’ve already seen 81 events pop up on the ‘action’ map around Europe! Last year we had 72 events in total, which was incredible considering the restrictions that took place due to Covid. This year we expected much of the same, but as we are seeing the easing of restrictions taking place around Europe, we are optimistic that we can reach at least 100 events across Europe by next week!

If you haven’t signed up yet, or reported your #TCoYT event, then make sure to click on the links NOW. We have some great prizes up for grabs for the winners of this year’s campaign, and it would be a shame for you and your crew to miss out.

As part of the 2021 ‘Take Care of Your Trails’ campaign we have added three new awards within the category formally known as ‘Outstanding Local Trail Crew’. As we are approaching the last two weeks of the campaign, we thought we would share a bit more detail about each award, and why you should register your event to win an award.

Trail advocate of the year award (M&F)

We will also be recognising and rewarding the Trail advocate of the year’ award (male and female). If you can think of someone deserving, then please nominate them. This award is dedicated to those individuals who have been going above and beyond in the past year, and deserve some need some recognition for their efforts! They have the chance not only to be recognised through IMBA Europe, but also a chance to win a great prize pack including a VIP Pro Deal from Specialized bikes, an EVOC Trail Builder Backpack and suit, as well as a Trail Boss Packable Trail Tool.

Outstanding trail crew awards 2021- Prizes and description

    Most Innovative trail crew

Prizes – Specialized Levo + trailer + Trail building tools.

Innovation is defined as the creation, development and implementation of a new product, process or service. With the aim of improving efficiency, effectiveness or competitive advantage. Examples of innovation might be the methods/techniques that you and your crew implement to build or maintain local trails. Perhaps you had to be creative in the way you organised your ‘action’ this year due to Covid restrictions and how many people were allowed to join an action/event. Were you creative in the way your organised and rallied people to get involved in your action? If you think your event was ‘innovative’ in some shape or form, please apply for the award.

Best inclusivity project by a Trail Crew–

Prizes- Specialized Levo + trailer + Trail building tools

The most inclusive crew will be the crew that has made the effort to involve all members of their community in their ‘action’. You can think outside of the box here, not necessarily women and children, but perhaps your trail maintenance days include involving a troubled youth program, or persons dealing with anxiety and depression. If you have a project that you are working on, or have done so in the past that was ‘inclusive’, please apply for the award and we will consider the relevance.

Best Conservation Effort by a trail crew

Prize- Specialized Soil Searching Film

This award will be awarded to the crew who is currently involved in a conservation effort/project related to preservation/restoration of our natural environment. A great example of what a conservation effort looks like, is the work that some members of Woburn Bike Trail are doing alongside ‘Trash Free Trails’ in the UK.

An interesting article on how mountain biking and conservation is intertwined is ‘WHY MOUNTAIN BIKERS NEED TO THINK BEYOND ACCESS AND SUSTAINABILITY, AND MORE ABOUT RESTORATION’

Applications for this award will be extended beyond the June 7th cut-off date. If you are involved in a project that may fit this description, please do not hesitate to apply for the award or email us at IMBA Europe.
